HUMC 2017 Easter Season Activities…

Ash Wednesday Service

The Ash Wednesday Service is on Wednesday, March 1 at 7:00 PM. This special service starts the 40 days of Lent which is a time for penance (a time of self examination and spiritual renewal; preparing our hearts). This is the day after Fat Tuesday, the first day of fasting, or giving up of something you enjoy. During this service we observe the custom of marking foreheads with ashes in the form of a cross. The color grey signifies the ashes.

40 Days of Lent

The 40 days of the Lent Season do not include Sundays. This year’s Lenten theme will center on, THE FORTY DAYS OF LOVE, for each Sunday (6) of lent we will be challenged to appreciate, care for, love, support, and forgive others, as we continue on our journey through Lent. The color purple signifies penance (self examination and self renewal).

Palm Sunday Services

Holy week starts with Palm Sunday on Sunday, April 9 at 9:00 AM and 10:45 AM. This is a celebration of praise service. Over 2000 years ago when our Lord Jesus Christ came into Jerusalem, palms were spread before him welcoming and praising Jesus.

Maundy Thursday Service

This Holy Thursday Service is on Thursday, April 13, at 7:00 PM. This year we are having a communion service. As a way of remembering our Lord’s last supper, with a greeting time of hand washing, and optional times of communion, foot washing, anointing, and prayer. Choose which of these you’d like to participate in. This is truly an awesome service you don’t want to miss. Come and be blessed.

Good Friday Service

This somber service is on Friday April 14, at 7:00 PM. Come, and join us in worship as we remember the day our savior went to the cross for our sins. Jesus’ last words were, “IT IS FINISHED.” The color black or the lack of color signifies our sin.
